DIFFICULTY — Wildlife viewing occurs from dam or along
unimproved 2-mile trail circling lake.
FACILITIES — Restrooms, camping.
PARKING — Sunrise to sunset. Parking at designated site only.
ACCESS — From Lakeside Ranger Station, travel southeast on
White Mountain Blvd. (State Highway 260) for 0.1 mile. Turn left
on Porter Mountain Road (FR 45) for 1.4 miles. Turn east at Scott
Reservoir Road and go 0.8 mile to the parking area adjacent to
the lake.
HIGHLIGHTS — A variety of waterfowl, great blue heron and
forest song birds are visible year-round, especially with fall and
spring migrations. This lake is also a good site to view nesting
osprey and wintering bald eagles.
